Under the supervision of the Managing Counsel, ONA`s legal counsel in Nassau will join CARECEN`s five-counsel program, which is an integral part of CARECEN`s robust and dynamic legal team. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES – Affirmative and defensive direct legal representation on immigration matters for immigrant populations in the Southern Tier. -Conduct a review of the naturalization application completion process for Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited ONA Opportunity Centers in the Southern Tier. -Organization and participation in legal consultation days, legal clinics, community information sessions and Know Your Rights presentations at ONA Opportunity Centres and Southern Tier partner agencies. -Develop, maintain and expand meaningful partnerships with local community groups to organize and host events. -Answer questions about immigration law from ONA Opportunity Centres, other service providers for immigrants and people in need of immigration assistance in the region. Develop and distribute a list of resources for recommendations on programs and services available to new Americans.
