Press Release

November 19, 2007

Sushi Damo first opened its doors in 1998 in Manhattan's Columbus Circle neighborhood. Since then, stars such as Maya, Sean Penn, Juliette Lewis and numerous Japanese celebrities have graced the sushi scene here.

Sushi Damo continues the tradition of offering the ultimate in cutting-edge sushi and Japanese cuisine. Executive Chef Takashi Okamura, formerly of DC's Makoto, presents the finest selection of sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls, and entrees. Food and Wine reported Okamura a Sushi "Classicist." Sushi Damo's modern-zen decor makes an ideal location to indulge in Okamura's delectable creations.

In addition to its popular menu, Sushi Damo--Rockville offers Omakase. Meaning "to trust," Omakase at Sushi Damo is a shrine-like offering of Okamura's personal best. Diners reserve their spot two days in advance, not knowing what they will be served. Only the most confident and experienced chefs may execute Omakase. Okamura presents an evening of six to nine beautifully and perfectly orchestrated courses of his choice.
